Wedding invitations

When my son's fiancee asked me to do their wedding invitations I of course said yes, I was flattered and very happy but I also knew it was going to be a big project.  One tends to forget just how timeconsuming it can be and how repetetive. But oh so rewarding!

Emeline had some ideas for the colors; turquoise and silver but not much else. I was trying to think from a time perspective, if we are making 50 invitations, how much time can we spend?

Then we stared to look at stamps and materials, I had some cute hearts that she liked. And she loved the look of vellum. Snowflakes were needed since this was going to be a winter wedding.

So this was a lot of input but in the end we came with a design that pleased everyone involved.

We went with a square turquoise cardstock with matching envelopes in a line called Coreale by G Lalo a French company, the color is called Bermudes.

The inside of the card has a photograph of the couple (taken by me) with a short text, then a vellum overlay stamped with silver embossed snowflakes and attached with a silver brad.

The front of the card has a horizontal strip of washi tape, then a vertical strip of silver colored cardstock with a vine design punch-out from Martha Stewart, again using the turquoise paper. Small silver pearls to decorate. Then there are 3 stamped and silver embossed hearts, cut out with scissors and placed on the card with dimensional tape.

The envelope has a vertical strip of washi tape and a silver embossed heart.

So this involves a lot of steps and the fabrication of the cards took quite some time but we were pleased with the results. Here are some pictures of the process, Emeline and Olivier both helped out:

The wedding took place on January 4, 2014.
